My runemate on my mac opens and closes in less than a second.

Same issue, the stand alone version works fine for me. Give that a try.

If the .dmg is not working for you, you will most likely have to use the standalone version of the client. please note that the standalone does not auto update and you will need to redownload it every time there is an update
