Bug runemate not working with proxy

My main recently received a 2-day ban, so i've decided to start another account to bot on, wanting to use a proxy as my ip is likely flagged.

Everything works fine when I'm not using a proxy, but when I do, the client fails to start an instace:
either it loads forever trying to start my botting instance, or it quits with a "failed to bind to game client because of an exception" message

I've looked at a bunch of the threads here, so I've tried some fixes:

runemate and osrs are on the same drive
I run as administrator
I use proxify, and have a SOCKS 5 proxy
I've restarted my computer, reinstalled both osrs and runemate, and deleted & redeleted cache files

any ideas what could be wrong?
