So i am pretty sure Jagex only bans when you suicide bot, goldfarm or a bot breaks and you're standing there spamclicking.

My supporting evidence of this is:

1. Botted to near max on my main and then started suicide botting and was banned on like the 18th hour (was in like 2013 though)
2. Botted for about 10-12 hours a day on one account that was goldfarming and didn't get banned until i liquidated the items through the grand exchange into GP then was banned a couple days later (could be delayed ban but it doesn't seem like it)
   
3. Well everyone has heard of people getting banned for a bot breaking and doing something it's not supposed to.
