Bug [Mac] Bot not running on background

I'm running any OSRS bot on MacOS High Sierra. It works fine when the screen is (partly) visible, but when the client is not on the foreground, it stops working properly after a short while. When I check RuneMate, I see that my xp rates have decreased (or no new xp gains). Then I open the client to check on the bot and at the moment I open it, suddenly several xp drops, chat overheads, npc's health bars appear, as if the client was frozen and just now unfroze.
It seems a bit like MacBook (partially) disconnects/pauses programs running on the background.

any update on this? 5 years later and this is happening to me. Spent 5 hours in game just standing not doing anything. But, when I run it from a windows machine, all works well.

This might be related to App Nap being on (a mac setting to cause programs in the background to go idle)
