Derk commits the bot marked as "private" to his repository, he then can assign selected users to this bot. The bot will just appear in your list of bots when you open the client.

It's pretty common to pay the author a certain amount for developing the bot, and then paying a monthly cost to keep the author maintaining and improving the bot.

Prices vary, some authors like to get themselves overpaid, some like themselves to get underpaid.
Just think what you're willing to invest and if it'll be worth it.
