Hello guys, I have a few simple questions. I'm a college student looking to make some extra money and I am pretty confident in my programming skills, however, what I need to know is if it is worth to do it.

I will need around an extra 5000 euros next to my parttime job over next year. I am experienced in Java or any OO-language. My part-time job is also as a developer, earning around 12 euros an hour. The potential I see with creating a bot is that I earn money long after completion of the bot, but will it be able to net me 5000 euros? And for what market should I be aiming, private or public?

I was hoping you could help me out and talk about your experiences, is making money with developing for runemate viable and should I do it?

Plan B would be to get some extra hours at my part time job, but this would mean I would be occupied with working (college included) over 60 hours a week, which I don't think I will be able to handle for a whole year.

If you would like to know how I got into the situation where I need 5000 euros, just ask away.

It's very unlikely you'll net 5000 Eur next year.

Some bot devs do make thousands a year (some even a month perhaps?) but they're the core brands and most used bots. Smaller bot devs net a few hundred a year tops usually, and there's a lot of work in starting up.

I'd say it's very well possible if you find a bot that isnt covered by the bot store yet but has high demand/potential
if you cant find one, you can always offer a private service, there arent really any private bot devs around here.

that being said, runemate has a rule in place that forces you to have one public bot for each user you assign to a private bot. which means it makes sense to lookout for low quantity, high quality projects, possibly for individual goldfarmers who are willing to invest good money.

    Alright thanks for your replies.

I will just get into it the oncoming weeks, see if it works out, if it doesn't then so be it.

As a bot user instead of an author, I'd recommend to play the game legit for a while to see what other training methods there are besides the ones you see on this forum. Seren spirit support (please just add this to the client, it doesn't interrupt any ingame actions), Charming imps for Hunter, Dark/Light Animica miner on Anachronia, Agility bot for Anachronia course, Construction bot etc. Lots of 'gaps' here to be filled, even existing bots could use some competition, and paying $0,10/0,20 an hour for a good method/bot is a pretty reasonable price imo.

Oh I have done my fair share of playing legit. There are definitely some spots in the market that have to be filled. Also your calculation, even though its an estimation, it does put things into perspective and it is definitely worth a shot. Ofcourse RuneMate most defnitely takes their rightful fee out of it, how much that is is something I haven't looked up yet.

I am not to sure about construction though and why people haven't made a bot for it yet, but I guess I will just start there and find out for myself.

I'd definitely be interested in buying scripts bots that filled some market gaps. IE: Agility training that included the camelot teleport while high alching or an updated warriors guild defender bot for my med-alts haha
