The primary use case would be for item trackers in UIs, but there are probably others. It would be much nicer to be able to get the sprite directly from a spriteitem.

SpriteItem "sprites" are essentially just transformations/rotations of the model rendered in 2D.
The latter. I discussed with @Cloud and it's on his radar. He will get to it as he deems fit.Does this mean not happening, or will just take a while to be done?
